The immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday said he feels relieved one day after leaving office.
“It has been the easiest day I can recall in nearly ten years, no wake up calls or knocks on my bedroom door, no packed schedules from Adejoh Momoh, no running up and down to meet timelines and no early security reports to read and issue directives!!,” El-Rufai tweeted.
El-Rufai said life is much easier after leaving office and urged the younger generation not to exclude themselves from politics and public service.
He called on Nigerian youths to be willing to sacrifice their time and resources to help the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all the state governors to succeed whenever called upon.
El-Rufai noted that the experience, contentment and integrity of the older generation will bring great value to public service.
“Be prepared to add your knowledge, wisdom and judgment to mobilize the energy, innovation and courage of the youth to address the challenges our nation faces,” El-Rufai said.
“Together, we will the be able to achieve the Nigerian ideal that President Tinubu outlined on Monday in first inaugural speech.”
El-Rufai handed over power to the new administration of Governor Uba Sani on Monday.
He spent two terms as the governor of Kaduna state, having been first elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2019.
