Award winning music sensation, Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems, has made history with another great win.

Tems Bags First Grammy Win As Burna Boy Loses Both Nominations

The singer and songwriter bagged her first grammy award for her feature on Future’s hit single ‘Wait For U’. One of her verses was sampled on the song that also featured reknowned Canadian rapper, Drake. 

‘Wait For U’ won the award for the Best Melodic Rap performance beating ‘Beautiful’ by Dj Khaled Featuring Future & Sza, ‘First Class’ by Jack Harlow, ‘Die Hard’ by Kendrick Lamar featuring Blxst $ Amanda Reifer, and ‘Big Energy(Live)’ by Latto.

Tems is officially the first female Nigerian Artiste from the Nigerian music industry to win a Grammy award due to her win with ‘Wait For U’.

She is also the third Nigerian woman to win a Grammy after Sade Adu (Best New Artist- 1986), and Cynthia Erivo (Best Theatre Album- 2017).

Nigerian Superstar, Burna Boy was also nominated for some categories- Best Global Song Performance and Best Global Album.

Unfortunately he lost The first category to ‘Bayethe’ by Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini & Nomcebo Zikode, and the second category to ‘Sakura’ by Masa Takumi respectively.
