Social media is undoubtedly one of the most fundamental forms of networking in today‘s world, especially for young creatives looking to get noticed by the masses.
Talented Nigerian instrumentalist, Seyi Ogunaike is just one of the many musicians who will vouch for the impact of social media in their careers. Twitter has brought her many opportunities, most recently the chance to collaborate with 2019’s biggest breakout star, Lil Nas X.

Back in 2016, Seyi posted a video of her playing synths over “Skin Tight” — a clip that caught the attention of Mr Eazi himself. Two months later, she got to perform alongside the star at an event in Leicester, before going on to accompany him during his first ever London show.
As well as joining Mr Eazi for his debut London set, Seyi also got the opportunity to perform with the undisputed queen of afropop, Tiwa Savage, for her first-ever headline show in London, shutting down the O2 Arena alongside one of her all-time favourite artists.
Reflecting on her definitive year, Seyi Ogunaike shared on her blog:
“Looking back, 2018 has really been an amazing one. It was the year I fully evolved into an artist.
2018 was also the year my seven year old dream came true — I performed with my long time favourite artist TIWA SAVAGE ?“
In addition to her dream coming true, Seyi made her co-production debut on Odunsi’s “falling”, playing her recently-adopted instrument, the bass guitar. Before the bass, the talented Seyi already mastered the piano, the electric guitar and the keys on the production decks.
A self-taught musician, Seyi learns to play all her instruments by ear — a skill which reflects on her synth arrangements, her remixes and also in her performances. She is an incredibly deft musician with a super promising future, and we can’t wait to see what she does with Lil Nas X.
