The Central Bank of Nigeria’s Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has filed a lawsuit seeking clarification on whether he may continue in office while running for president.
Mr Emefiele’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, filed the complaint in the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on Monday.
On Monday morning, Mr Ozekhome confirmed the news to NEWS DIRECT, stating, “I just finished filing the suit on behalf of my client, and we are still in court now.”
The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria has come under significant public pressure to resign if he intends to run for president next year.
