Following his catchy single, “Gucci Snake”, D’Prince took a year-long hiatus from releasing music, finally reappearing, just last week, with an impressive three-track EP, Lavida.
The tape’s title track, “Lavida”, sees D’Prince teaming up with his hot new discovery, Rema. Capitalising on the current buzz surrounding the talented 18-year old star, D’Prince wastes no time promoting the song, dropping a fiery video for the banger.
Produced by Altims, “Lavida” is a multifarious bop that plays to both D’Prince’s and Rema’s strengths. After a more hip-hop opening from D’Prince, Rema draws out the Arabian influence in Altims’ beat, justifying the hype surrounding him with an outstanding performance.
Directed by Clarence Peters, the accompanying video for “Lavida” is incredibly crisp and well executed. As he is on the track, Rema is the highlight of the “Lavida” video, leading a squad of hitmen to unearth millions of pounds and dollars for himself and D’Prince.
“Lavida” is D’Prince and Rema’s first-ever collaboration, but given their close relationship and affiliation to Mavin Records, we are reasonably hopeful that this undeniable bop is just the first of many outstanding collaborations.
