THE Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission on Sunday declared that candidates of the All Progressives Congress, won all the Chairmanship and Councillorship seats in the state elections held on Saturday.
Announcing the results in Jos, the chairman of the Commission, Fabian Ntung, said, “The APC won all the 17 local government chairmanship seats as well as the 325 councillorship seats in the state.”
The PUNCH reports that seven parties participated in the election but the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, was excluded from participating.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State chapter of the Youth Democratic Party of Nigeria has urged Nigerian youths not to be afraid to contest for elective positions during the 2023 general elections
State chairman of YDPN, Dazi Victor, gave the charge after the party integrated its e-Voting system to their digital platforms, on Saturday.
He noted that YDPN was the first fully digitalized political party platform in the country which was developed within eleven months of its existence.
Victor said, its platform was a place “where Nigerians can register to be members of the party online, with assigned Party Identification Number and a code Digitally verifiable at Ward level for issuances of permanent party card.”
According to him, the e-voting system was integrated to the party’s digital platform to eliminate all forms of vote buying and imposition of candidates during primaries.
In a statement after adopting the platform, Victor said “We believe in Nigerian Youths, and the ideology that anybody can become a somebody.
