Kashim Shettima of Borno State

Immediate past governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima has called for power rotation between the northern and southern parts of the country, saying the presidency should shift to the South in 2023 in the spirit of fairness and justice.

Shettima made this known yesterday in Abuja during the public presentation of an autobiography by the Chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund’s (TETFund) Research and Development Standing Committee, Njidda Mamadu Gadzama.

The presentation of the book titled: “Standing For The Truth With Courage,” attracted top dignitaries including the Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari, former Governor of Bauchi State, Ahmadu Muazu, among others. Shettima, who was chairman of the event, blamed selfish politicians for the problems rocking Nigeria, adding that religion and ethnicity are being used by some to pursue their selfish agenda and called for unity and justice in the country.

Shettima said Nigeria must not be allowed to implode, as no country in the continent would be able to accommodate its huge population.

On his part, Gmbari said Nigeria was going through difficult moments but would soon overcome her challenges.

Presenting the book, Executive Secretary, TETFund, Suleiman Bogoro, described Gadzama as a great academic who has impacted massively in the nation’s higher education sector. Bogoro said Gadzama, who was former VC, University of Maiduguri and University of Port Harcourt as well as a member of Nigerian Academy of Science, deserves commendations for his courage, truth and service to Nigeria.

Speaking, Gadzama noted that his experience at the 13 Working Groups of TETFund R&D Standing Committee has deepened his faith in Nigeria. The book, which is prescribed as a wonderful resource material on the culture and language of the Margi people of Borno State; is also a story Gadzama’s life covering details of special events.
