Since his compelling debut performance in Kemi Adetiba’s King Of Boys, Reminisce has popped up on only a few songs. Now, as the first quarter of 2019 draws to a close, Reminisce makes a return on his own terms, dropping his first official single of the year, “Oja”.
As one of the leaders of Nigeria‘s indigenous rap scene, Reminisce uses the song’s three-minute runtime to drop solid Yoruba bars, diluting his vernacular tongue with only a handful of throwaway lines in English.
On “Oja”, Reminisce reminds us that he didn’t come here to play — he is in the game for the money. The accomplished rapper also advises us not to chase after inconsequential effects, illustrating his point with his own success.
Besides Reminisce’s A-1 bars, the beat for “Oja” really shines — no surprise, seeing as Sarz produced the banger. The outstanding beatsmith really shows off on this track, especially during the instrumental interlude that appears after Reminisce’s chorus.
