Barça does not consider Rakitic’s renewal

The future of Rakitic is in the air and, today, its continuity can not be guaranteed even though the Croatian wishes to continue and is one of the most used players by Ernesto Valverde. The footballer, who already rejected a multimillion-dollar PSG offer last summer, wants to improve and renew his contract, but the sports area does not have a negotiation with Rakitic on his agenda. They already warned him in the summer that he was not going to raise the card and they still think the same, so the player must meditate on their future in the coming months taking into account that the club would not hurt a strong sale.
Rakitic has never hidden that he wants to continue at Barça. He feels comfortable in the club and, despite having a contract until 2021, his idea is to renew to consider a withdrawal at the Camp Nou. Last summer he hesitated with the offer of the PSG, which doubled his file in Barcelona, but remained after a key conversation with Ernesto Valverde to convince him. At that time, the Croatian already asked a gesture to Barca for the economic effort he made, but the club closed the doors to an improvement. Months later, the situation has not changed one iota. From the Barça are clear that Rakitic knew what was left if he stayed since there is no room for salary joys after the latest signings and renewals.
It is clear that the scenario may be tense in the coming weeks. Rakitic is still a must for Valverde and the player begins to manage the interest of several level clubs. Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern, Juventus and Inter have asked for him knowing that his name can go on the market this summer. The footballer knows that he will have offers and, in recent weeks, has pressed the president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, to renew him. It is his last option because in the sport planning this negotiation is not foreseen. If Bartomeu does not intervene, as he has done so far advised by the sports area, Rakitic could consider listening to offers and have many options to leave.
The PSG, which this year has not moved by the Croatian, offered 90 million euros for its transfer in the last month of August and Barca was really tempted to sell. Valverde and the player himself prevented it in extremis, but this summer may be different. Barça has already closed the signing of De Jong and there is much tranquility about the composition of the new midfield. An exit of Rakitic would not be so traumatic for the new sport project and the income with this operation could be basic to square numbers. And is that Barca are convinced that they could raise more than 65 million euros for Rakitic, a player with a lot of market among European clubs.
All parties have marked a truce about their future, waiting for the decisive stage of the season to pass. And what is clear is that, unless the directive says otherwise, Rakitic will not renew in this fiscal year. At the end of the season the whole game will be played and Valverde could also press to try to stay, although he knows what will be more complicated. Rakitic has already done what he had to do, making it clear that he wants to stay and putting his case in the hands of the club.
