Just yesterday, Burna Boy teased an upcoming single inspired by NBA player, Giannis Antetokounmpo. It turns out that he had more than a new single in store for us, as he just released a 4-track EP, Steel & Copper, in collaboration with Grammy-nominated production duo, DJDS.
Burna Boy has been on a winning streak since the release of his 2018 mixtape, Outside. He has since followed up that acclaimed project with a string of amazing singles, from “Gbona” to “Dangote”, and in no hurry to let us forget him, he’s given us this fantastic body of work.
Announcing the project on Instagram, Burna Boy said:
“Messed around and did an international collaborative EP with the baddest duo, DJDS”
Even though Steel & Copper is only 4-tracks-long, Burna Boy still manages to show off his impressive versatility, exploring a bunch of different sound throughout the project. DJDS also do a great job, giving the afro-fusion star ample room to flex his creative muscles.
The lean project, particularly its undeniable standout track, “Darko”, cements Burna Boy as one of the most essential Nigerian artists working today, and it makes us even more excited to see how he will represent the country during his first-ever Coachella performance next month.
Until then, listen to Steel & Copper below:
