Normalcy has returned to Michika town in Adamawa following a failed night attack on the community by Boko Haram insurgents who were repelled by the military.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that shops and schools in the town have opened for normal business.

“Schools and shops are all opened except for the ones looted and burnt by the insurgents,” said a resident of Michika, Abdulrahman Mutawalle.

Another resident, Simon Musa said things have normalized, adding that about five people were killed and many others injured during the incident.

“Things have normalized except that we lost five people and the only bank in Michika was burnt, a development that would seriously affect many people who now have to travel to Mubi for bank transactions,” Musa said.

Also speaking, Adamawa Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh said things have normalized and government was assessing the damages.

“There are few dead and many injuries which exact number i am yet to ascertain; some of the injured are receiving treatment in Michika General Hospital, while some were referred to Mubi and Yola.

“Those killed were hit by stray bullets or caught in the cross-fire,” Sajoh said.
