Very few Nigerian producers are as versatile as Bankyondbeatz, and even less know how to bring out the best in the artists they work with. Thankfully, that’s still the case, as the up-and-comer’s new track, “Hello”, which features Tomi Thomas & L Marshall, is another triumph.

We’ve heard all sorts from Banky — the gifted beatsmith has delivered eclectic production work on gems ranging from the seductive “Afromadtown” to Idris King’s anthemic “Squad”. With “Hello”, Banky tests new waters, unleashing an energetic ballad that sounds entirely fresh.

Tomi Thomas’s vocals are given a lot of room to shine against the mellow yet captivating beat, and he definitely sounds better than he’s sounded in quite some time. On the track, Tomi sings about how his numb feelings were awakened by a simple “hello” from his lover.

Save for Banky’s fantastic production work and Tomi’s strong vocals, another element that makes “Hello” truly shine is L Marshall’s outstanding contribution, as the UK singer delivers a standout verse that has us immensely interested in what else he has to offer.
