The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on Nigerian Ruler, Muhammadu Buhari, to direct the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, and the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, to publish the list of names of people from whom N800bn in looted funds have been recovered and details of spending.
This was contained in a tweet via the commission’s official Twitter handle.
SERAP also asked Buhari to probe alleged payments of N51bn into individual accounts in 2019.
The tweet reads: “BREAKING: We’ve asked President Buhari to direct AGF & Finance Minister to publish the list of names of people from whom N800bn in looted funds have been recovered, details of spending, etc. We also asked him to probe alleged payments of N51bn into individual accounts in 2019.
“Our FoI request yesterday, read: “Publishing the details regarding the N800bn recovered loot & investigating the alleged suspicious payments into individual accounts would serve the public interest & be consistent with fundamental principles of due process & Nigeria’s commitment.”
