Super Eagles B Assistant Coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has vowed that the team will break Ghana’s ‘curse’ in Saturday’s decisive CHAN 2024 final return leg qualifier against the Black Galaxies at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Completesports.com reports.

Speaking at Friday’s pre-match conference, Ogunmodede expressed cautious optimism, revealing that the technical crew had extensively studied Ghana’s strengths and weaknesses. He assured fans that the team had prepared meticulously to end Ghana’s dominance over Nigeria.

“We’ve carefully analysed Ghana’s strengths and found that they rely heavily on history. We’ve done everything possible to ensure history doesn’t repeat itself this time. Whatever Ghanaian ‘curse’ exists must be broken tomorrow; our goal is to qualify for CHAN,” Ogunmodede declared.

Ghana has increasingly been a stumbling block for Nigeria. The West African rivals denied Nigeria a spot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Similarly, the Black Galaxies prevented the Super Eagles B from reaching the CHAN finals in Algeria in 2022, while Togo thwarted Nigeria’s hopes of appearing at the 2020 CHAN tournament.

Addressing questions about the number of Super Eagles B players who have played under him at various clubs, including his current side, Remo Stars, Ogunmodede offered a pragmatic response.

“Look at the current Ghana team; they have seven players from the same club. If there are many players in this Super Eagles B who have played under me, it’s not an issue as long as they are good players. Even if all of them make the starting XI, it’s perfectly fine,” he said.
