Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has just revealed his agenda for the just concluded meeting with Nigerian Ruler, Muhammadu Buhari.
He disclosed that he met with Buhari to express his intention to return as the governor of Edo State under the All Progressive Congress (APC) Party.
Obaseki tweeted:
“I just met with His Excellency @MBuhari to intimate him on my intention to seek re-election on the platform of our great party, @OfficialAPCNg”
See below some pictures from the meeting.
In the build up to the forthcoming governorship election, infighting has taken centre stage in the APC, between the camps of Party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and that of Godwin Obaseki,
Recall that Adams Oshiomole had come under fire for endorsing former Secretary to Edo State Government (SSG), Osagie Ize-iyamo as the party’s governorship candidate for the forthcoming elections, despite the seating governor, Obaseki’s interest in running for second term.
The governor will have to go head to head with Ize-iyamo for the party’s ticket as the APC National Working Committee adopted direct primary for the Edo State governorship election.
Obaseki who is facing the seemingly toughest battle of his political career appears optimistic about his chances of having the tides turn in his favour.
His just concluded meeting with Nigerian Ruler, Muhammadu will most definitely lift his spirits in his bid to return as governor of the state under the APC platform.
There is a popular opinion that Obaseki may decamp to rival party, PDP to stand a chance of him realizing his second term ambition, if Oshiomhole succeeds in having his way at the APC primaries.
APC primaries have been slated for June 22nd while the Governorship election will he on the 19th of September.
