Olympic Eagles captain Azubuike Okechukwu arrived the team’s camp on Monday morning ahead of Tuesday’s make or mar Group B clash against Zambia at the 2019 U-23 Afeica Cup of Nations in Egypt, reports Completesports.com.
His arrival is a big boost for a side in search of inspiration after losing their dirst match in the competition 1-0 to Cote d’lvoire last Saturday.
Okechukwu , who plays for Turkish outfit, Istanbul Başakşehir missed the Olympic Eagles’ game against the Ivorians after his club failed to release him early for the competition.
SD Huesca of Spain midfielder Kelechi Nwakali captained the team in his absence in the first game.
Okechukwu was also the captain four years ago when Nigeria won the competition in Senegal.
The Eagles will take on the Zambians at the Al Salam Stadium, Cairo.
