Alex Iwobi provided an assist for Arsenal in their 2-0 home win over Southampton in a Premier League game on Sunday reports Completesports.com.
First half goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Henrik Mkhitariyan secured a comfortable win for Unai Emery’s side.
Nathan Redmond missed a huge chance to make the breakthrough for Southampton in the fifth minute and the visitors were made to pay one minute later when Arsenal took the lead.
Southampton had a golden chance to level in the 15th minute when wing-back Matt Targett found space in a dangerous position, but Arsenal goalkeeper was on hand to make an excellent save.
Once again the visitors were made to pay for the missed opportunity, with Mkhitaryan turning a low Iwobi’s cross into the bottom corner to double Arsenal’s advantage with 17 minutes on the clock.
The assist was Iwobi’s 14th in 89 Premier League games since he made his debut.
The Nigerian international was however subbed off for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in the 74th minute after he copped a leg injury.
In the other Premier League game played at Old Trafford, Manchester United were held to a goalless draw by Liverpool.
Arsenal’s win moves them up to fourth place in the Premier League, one point ahead of Manchester United.
Southampton stay in 18th for now, again only by a point below Cardiff.
