Victor Osimhen created a new Serie A goal record after scoring in the club’s 2-1 home win against Cagliari on Saturday.
Osimhen scored and also bagged a world class assist in the league clash.
The recently crowned 2023 CAF Player of the Year winner opened the scoring in the 69th minute with a towering header.
According to OptaPaolo Osimhen is the only Napoli player to score in each of his first four Serie A matches against two different teams, in the three points per win era (since 1994/95): Cagliari and Sampdoria (between 2021 and 2023).
Just three minutes later after Osimhen’s opener, Cagliari equalised through Leonardo Pavoletti.
But in the 75th minute Napoli got their second goal thanks to Kvicha Kvaratskhelia from a brilliant assist from Osimhen.

The Super Eagles striker received a pass inside the box, juggled the ball in front of three Cagliari players with his right thigh, slotted it in between the legs of his marker and laid it for his teammate to slam home.
Napoli move up to fourth place on 27 points and 11 points behind leaders Inter in the league standings.
