Scotland and Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has commended Nigeria midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo for his impact at English Championship club since he arrived last summer, reports Completesports.com.
Etebo joined the Potters from Portuguese club, CD Feirense last June after a string of outstanding performances for the Super Eagles at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Despite not scoring a goal nor providing an assist in 23 English Championship games, Adam has been wowed by the performance of the 23-year-old for the Potters who currently languish in 17th position in the Championship.
“Etebo has been excellent since he came in and it’s good to see his getting a run of games and playing at a level we know he’s capable of – and we know he can do more as well,” Adam told Stoke Sentinel.
“We have to try to win as many games from now until the end of the season because of the support we continue to get at home and away. It’s been a difficult couple of years.”
Etebo made his international debut for Nigeria in March 2016 and has won 19 caps, scoring one goal for the three-time African champions.
He is expected to be called up for the Super Eagles’ 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against Seychelles on March 23 in Asaba, Delta State.
