Bedridden and ‘incapacitated’ former Nigeria junior international, Chukwuma Nwoha, has exclusively told Complete Sports that he owes a lot of gratitude to former Super Eagles defender, Chikelue Iloenyosi, whose financial assistance, he revealed, has helped him pay his drugs bills.
Nwoha was part of the Golden Eaglets that won the inaugural edition of FIFA/KODAK U16 World Cup in China in 1985.
He’s now bedridden as a result of leg problems that has proven difficult to heal after medications and surgeries.
Recently, Nwoha went through the surgeon’s knife at the Federal Medical Center, Umuahia where NPFL side, Abia Warriors officials visited and Nigeria Legend, Nwankwo Kanu visiting with financial help last December.
But Iloenyosi is the latest benefactor to come to the aid of Nwoha.
“I owe a lot of gratitude to him, Iloenyosi,” Nwoha told Complete Sports Tuesday afternoon.

“He’s been of tremendous help, financially, to me. But for him, it would have been practically impossible for me to pay for my drugs.
“You know I don’t walk, my son has to carry me if I must come out. So, but for Iloenyosi, perhaps, it could have over for me.
“I pray God to continue to bless him for his human disposition”.
Iloenyosi recently launched a Welfare Association for retired footballers tagged 042 Welfare Association which comprises of ex-players and through which he provides succour to those of them in abject need.
The likes of Kenneth Abana and Paul Obiakor both ex-Rangers players, amongst others, have benefitted from Ilienyosi’s 042 project.
The former Tennis Borussia Berlin, Germany, Caykur Rizespor of Turkey, Ittihad FC, Asteras Tripoli and AL Ittihad Club strongman is currently an aide of NFF president, Melvin-Pinnick Amaji.
A product of the Nigeria’99 FIFA U-20 World Cup finals, Iloenyosi went to earn four Super Eagles caps. He was a stand-by player for the U-23 Eagles at the 2000 Olympic Games in Australia.
