NFF: No Decison Yet On NPFL Season Ending Format

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to make a decision on the format and pattern that will decide the conclusion of the 2019/20 football season, including that of the Nigeria Professional Football League, reports Completesports.com.

Reports emerged on Monday that clubs in NPFL have voted for the season to be cancelled using the points per game (PPG) format to decide the team that will represent the country in CAF competitions.

The clubs also decided that there will be no relegation and promotion.

NFF Secretary General, Mohammed Sanusi, however stated that all the stakeholders should wait until after the ongoing consultations.

The Nigeria Football Federation has declared that wide consultation is still ongoing as to the format and pattern of foreclosing the 2019/2020 Football Season, including that of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL,”reads a tweet on the NFF’s Twitter handle.

17 of the 20 teams opted to stop the league, two abstained and a third chose the second option with some amendments.

Akwa United and Lobi Stars  abstained from the voting process, while Enugu Rangers voted for the second option of playoffs.

The NPFL was suspended in March due to the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
