
A pastor of a church in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government area of Ogun State, was on Sunday arrested for holding an Easter Service, in defiance of government’s COVID-19 lockdown directive.
The pastor of a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Jonathan Olowonisile, was arrested alongside his associate and two others.
Reports gathered that worshippers in the service fled immediately they sighted policemen from Ogijo police station.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, who is the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest. Oyeyemi said the pastor was nabbed for leading a congregation contrary to the ban on mass gathering.
“Our men arrested one Pastor Jonathan Olowonisile today, (Sunday) for contravening the order against high density gathering,” he said.
