There’s something sports fans have noticed about Drake these days. Sports personalities who have taken a photo with him have all suffered some sort of setbacks — including Conor McGregor, Neymar and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Following the ‘Drake Curse’ (as it’s now called), Roma posted a hilarious tweet banning their players from taking photos with the rapper until the end of the season. Now, Anthony Joshua is considering doing the same as his June 1 fight with Andy Ruiz Jr draws closer.
Joshua and Drake actually met before and even took a photo together, which the boxer posted on Instagram with the caption: “Bout to break the curse”. Well, that caption didn’t quite do the trick, as his then challenger, Jarrell Miller, got banned for failing drug tests.
Joshua thinks that ban has something to do with the photo he took with Drake. Speaking on The Michael Kay Show, he said:
“You know about the Drake curse? It is real, though. Do you know what is weird actually? I took a picture with Drake before Miller got banned.
Miller had his drug test and the whole fight went to pot. The fight got cancelled.”
You can never be too careful these days, and we’re happy that isn’t lost on Joshua. Let’s just hope Drake doesn’t show up in his dressing room for a pre-fight selfie.
