A man identified as Lukeman Sanchi has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping a pregnant woman pasturing her animals in the fields Mion District in Ghana.

We gathered that the victim, who is a farmer, was following her animals when the suspect allegedly came out from a nearby bush, pounced her and forcibly had sex with her.

When the woman returned from the farm, she told her husband every that had happened and he subsequently reported the matter to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) office.

The police arrested Lukeman and issued medical forms to the alleged victim for examination by a gynaecologist at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

A statement from the police confirmed the incident and added that the medical forms had been endorsed and returned to them.

According to JoyNews’ Northern Regional correspondent, the suspect is due to appear before the court on Monday, December 16.
