In the past year, D’Banj has been determined to regain relevance in the Nigerian music industry. Appreciating the value of collaborations, he has teamed up with a few popular names to help realise this goal, including Tiwa Savage, 2Baba and, now, Slimcase for “Mo Cover Eh”.
“Mo Cover Eh” opens with D’Banj’s signature harmonica playing the familiar melody that we heard at the start of his iconic track, “Tongolo”, before Cracker Mallo’s electronic beat takes over and Slimcase’s hyping begins.
Charged with the song’s chorus, Slimcase kicks off the track by assuring us that he’s got us covered, financially and supportively. D’Banj quickly takes over from Slimcase’s energetic chorus, offering us the same assurances, before announcing that he is the baddest in the game.
Slimcase does a lot of the heavy lifting on “Mo Cover Eh”, as he is awarded the second verse of the track, in addition to his boisterous chorus. Singing predominantly in Yoruba, Slimcase’s verse is pretty brief but packed with clever lines.
