A renown human rights activist, Senator Shehu Sani, on Monday expressed his support for the protest which erupted in Minna, Niger State, where women and youths came out in thousands to agitate against the rising cost of living under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Sani in a social media statement, not only clarified the rights of the people to protest, he justified the protest and its import to the government.
According to Sani, “The protest is simply a message and a call for immediate and impactful measures to address the problems of the epidemic of poverty in the country.”

“The protest in Minna, Niger State, against the high cost of living, falls within the ambit of the right to peaceful dissent.
“Protest against the cost of living was also done in other European cities experiencing economic pains.
“The protest is simply a message and a call for immediate and impactful measures to address the problems of the epidemic of poverty in the country.”
