Women and youths in their thousands took to the major roads on Monday in Minna, Niger State, to protest the increasing hardship in the country since the emergence of the current administration.
Trending video on social media featured the women and youths blocking the highway in Niger State expressing their griefs and demanding reduction in the cost of living.
The protesters blocked Kpakungu Roundabout, leading to Neco Headquarters and FUT Minna.
The protesters were adamant in their agitations. They were said to have resisted the police personnel who came to the scene to restore normalcy and chased them away. The security personnel had to retreat to forestall any casualty or clashes.
Prices of food and household items have gone astronomically high across the country since the emergence of President Bola Tinubu following the rash removal of petrol subsidy and the floating of the naira exchange market.
The two policies have worsened the country’s economy in the past eight months of the administration, causing unprecedented hardship.
