Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello arrived at the All Progressives Congress’s national headquarters in Abuja on Monday to take over as Chairman of the party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).
The news comes amid reports of a rumored leadership crisis inside the APC.
President Muhammadu Buhari is said to have approved the expulsion of Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni as Chairman of the CECPC and the appointment of Abubakar Sani Bello, the governor of Niger State, in his place.
Meanwhile, Bello arrived at the APC headquarters on Monday and is currently meeting with the party’s leadership.
A tweet from TVC reads, “Niger State Governor @abusbello has arrived the National Headquarters of the APC to take over as Chairman of the CECPC from Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni.”
“Secretary, Caretaker Committee, John AkpanUdoedehe has also arrived at the national secretariat.
“The leadership of the party is currently in a closed-door meeting with Niger state Governor.”
According to reports, some APC governors complained angrily to President Buhari that Buni was not willing to hold the rescheduled convention because no arrangements had been made on the ground.
