Ex-Military Governor Dies At 70

Colonel Ahmed Usman, the former Military Administrator of Oyo State, has died.

According to family sources, Usman, who was 70 years old, died at 3 a.m. on Wednesday in Jos, the Plateau State capital, after an illness.

“Oga is gone, We lost him this morning”, one of his nephews told our reporter.

His remains are being transferred to his village, Okura-Lafia, Kogi State, for Muslim rites burial today, according to reports.

During General Sani Abacha’s military dictatorship, Usman was the military governor of Ondo State from August 1994 to August 1996 and of Oyo State from August 1996 to August 1998.

He had a running fight with individuals who bought properties of Odu’a companies as the chairman of MILADS of the Odu’a states, some of which were recovered.
