Manchester City hammered newly crowned Premier League champions Liverpool 4-0 at the Etihad in Thursday’s Premier League game.
Liverpool, who were given a guard of honour by the hosts before kick-off, almost took the lead but Mohamed Salah’s low drive cannoned off the post.
It proved costly as Man City took complete control with a devastating first-half display in which they scored three goals within 20 minutes.

Kevin de Bruyne converted the opener from the penalty spot on 25 minutes after Joe Gomez fouled Raheem Sterling.
In the 35th minute Sterling made it 2-0 to Man City after finishing off a swift counter-attack.
Young midfielder Phil Foden coolly slotting home on 45 minutes to make ot 3-0 following a quick one-two with De Bruyne.
And in the 66th minute Man City scored their fourth when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain inadvertently slid the ball into his own net from Sterling’s low drive.
Riyad Mahrez thought he had added the fifth goal in the 95th minute but after consulting the VAR, referee Anthony Taylor disallowed the goal for handball by Phil Foden in the build-up.
