Family Mourns Okwaraji’s Mother: ‘It’s Difficult Moment For Us Now’ –Brother

Patrick Okwaraji, brother of late Nigeria football star, Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji who died on August 12, 1989 during a FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Angola in Lagos,has exclusively told Completesports.com that the family is going through a difficult moment now following the death of their mother, Janet Okwaraji, on Sunday, June 7, 2020.

Pat Okwaraji spoke to Completesports.com from the gamily’s Abakpa Nike, Enugu, residence, saying their mother was not sick before her death.

“I must tell you it’s a most difficult moment for us now,” Pat said in a deep sorrowful tone.

“Mama was not sick before her death. She only felt a bit of unsteady and next was she just died.
It’s difficult to take, that mama is gone.”

He confirmed that he has informed NFF on behalf of the Okwaraji family, on the death of their mother.

“That was why I asked you to call me back later because at that time, we we were trying to get things together.

“So, we have just let NFF know what happened and as a family, we are putting heads together.”

Now head of the Okwaraji family, Pat disclosed that no date has yet been slated for the burial of the late Madam Janet Okwaraji.

“No, no date yet. We are still getting ourselves together. When it gets to that stage, I would let you know,” he promised.
