Punch Metro reports that policemen from the Imo State Police Command have arrested one Johnbosco Ejiogu for stabbing his mother, Pauline Ejiogu.

The police spokesperson in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, on Saturday said the suspect also set the house where the woman resided on fire.

He added that but for the timely intervention of the cops, the woman would have been burnt to death.

Ikeokwu said, “Operatives of Mbieri Divisional Headquarters while responding to a distress call arrested Johnbosco Ejiogu and rescued his mother, Pauline Ejiogu.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that Ejiogu stabbed his mother after an altercation and he went further to lock the door behind him and the victim. He then set the house ablaze, but they were rescued alive by the swift reaction of the men of the division and members of the neighbourhood.”
Ikeokwu said the woman and Ejiogu had been taken to a hospital for treatment while investigation had commenced.
