Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo

Nana Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana has announced an additional one-week extension to the lockdown in the country’s two main regions.

According to him, it is to help contain the spread of Coronavirus.

Nana Akufo-Addo, in a late broadcast on Thursday, said the two-week restriction on movement around the capital Accra and in the Kumasi area would be prolonged from Monday, April 13.

“It is important that we stay the course, and bear with the difficulties that come with it.

“The final result, hopefully, will be freedom from the virus.”

Akufo-Addo also promised that the government would absorb the whole of the electricity bills of the poorest citizens and 50% for other residents and businesses for three months to ease the pain.

Ghana has so far registered 378 COVID-19 cases. Six deaths have so far been recorded.
