According to the NCDC on its twitter handle, the first Coronavirus death in Nigeria had been recorded.

It said the case was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in the United Kingdom.

The NCDC said the victim had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes and was undergoing chemotherapy, while commiserating with the family.

“The 1st #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded. The case was a 67 year old male who returned home following medical treatment in UK He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes & was undergoing chemotherapy Our thoughts are with his family,” the NCDC tweeted.

However, on Monday five new cases of Coronavirus (COVID19) had been confirmed in Nigeria.

NCDC stated that the new cases include two in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), two in Lagos state and one in Edo state.

Two of the cases were also confirmed to be returning travellers from the United Kingdom.

“This brings the cases of coronavirus in Nigeria to 35 and two have been discharged and one death. The latest development also means Lagos now has 24, FCT – 6, Ogun- 2, Ekiti- 1, Oyo- 1, Edo- 1,” it said.
