Achimugu returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom two weeks ago and last week tuesday, he reportedly started showing symptoms of the deadly virus.
He died around 2:00am Monday after coughing severely throughout Sunday.
His Family is accusing the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control of negligence since they were informed of his situation and they even took his blood sample for testing but they never got back to his family.
On Sunday afternoon, (22nd March) the former PPMC MD was coughing profusely, and his family called NCDC to inquire about his results.
The result was positive.
He was picked up and rushed to the hospital at Gwagwalada, FCT.
Achimugu died at 2 am Monday morning.
His family is currently under quarantine in their house.
One of his relatives while speaking to Sahara Reporters said:
“NCDC officials came to the house and took his blood specimen. Even though it tested positive, they never got back to us until he died at a hospital in Gwagwalada.
“We are all currently under quarantine in the house,”
The NCDC will handle Achimugu’s burial so as to avoid a further spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, former Vice President of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar’s son has tested positive for coronavirus and has been quarantined in Abuja.
