Federal Government Shuts Down Three Nigerian Airports To Curb Spread Of Coronavirus

The Federal Government has shut down three international in the country as part of precautionary measures to curb the ravaging spread of the pandemic.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Musa Nuhu, on Thursday night.

The three airports shut are Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano; Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu; and the International Airport, Omagwa.

Musa Nuhu said the three airports would be closed till further notice effective Saturday, March 21.

He said the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos would still be opened but no flight from the 13 COVID-19 high-risk countries would be allowed into the country.

KanyiDaily had reported that Nigeria currently have 12 confirmed cases of the dreaded coronavirus. Eleven in Lagos and one in Ekiti.

Subsequently, President Muhammadu Buhari has imposed a travel ban on 13 high risk countries of coronavirus, effective from March 21, 2020.
