The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor E. A Adeboye has been tongue-lashed by Nigerians for saying children of God are exempted from contracting the deadly Coronavirus disease.

Coronavirus which originated in Wuhan China in December 2019 has spread to over 30 countries with a rising death toll of over 5,000 people.

Last week, World Health Organization (WHO) declared the virus a pandemic. Countries like America and those under the EU have shut their borders to protect their citizens.

However, Pastor Adeboye in a video shared online said;

“I want to assure you that there is no virus that can come near you at all because it is written that those that dwell in the secret place of the most high, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I believe that this is a time for God to show you clearly that there is a difference between those who serve him wholeheartedly and those who do not”.

Nigerians are angry that Adeboye implied that the people who have tested positive or died from the virus are not children of God.

See how they tackled hime below:

daddyfreeze: So are you saying that Idris Elba and those little children who contracted the virus are not living in the secret place???

missy_osas: Some times bad things happen to good people it does not mean they did not serve God enough

quamlarry: I wish Edris Elba can sneeze on you right now …So those suffering from the disease and dying from the virus do not worship God abi ? Cuz that is what u trying to say ?

sleekmate03: The God I serve shows mercy even to those undeserving of it. ?

entertainforlife: Difference between those who serve him wholeheartedly and those who do not? Sir you sound funny & shallow

somebodys_1stson: Sigh so only those who are not serving God will get infected sigh. I really don’t want to say anything sha ?‍♂️

ozor_iyanga: So the idea now is that Nigerians serve God and others don’t. I hope you haven’t spoken too quickly and you will not deny this statement.

misshembe

God is not a bully. He loves us all?

naijasingles: God doesn’t discriminate. those who are going through it now doesn’t love God/serve him less. He loves us all his children.
