From making his debut at one of the biggest music festivals in the world, Coachella, to being handpicked by Beyoncé to feature on her upcoming album, The Lion King: The Gift, Burna Boy has had an incredibly successful and notable year.
Recognising Burna Boy’s immense promise, Apple Music named the afro-fusion star its latest ‘Up Next‘ artist. Now, they’ve dropped a doc, which sees Burna Boy share some wisdom, as well as three songs off his forthcoming album, African Giant.
Burna begins the interview by divulging his understanding of music, explaining that the most important thing is how it makes us feel on the inside. He also talks about the term, African Giant, which he interprets to mean a person with strength.
During the video Burna Boy performs a couple of songs on the album. While one of them is Burna’s latest single, “Anybody”, Burna boy plays through two unreleased songs: a seemingly deep song about mortality, and a track introducing the African Giant.
In the second episode of the Up Next mini-doc, Burna Boy sits down with Julie Adenuga to divulge a little more about his past. Growing up with a DJ for a dad, Burna Boy has always had a flair for music, particularly Anita Baker and Naughty By Nature.
