Thanks to the success of “Jealous”— a standout off the YBNL collaborative mixtape, Mafia Family — Fireboy DML is now regarded as one of 2019’s biggest breakout stars. Another great track off that sadly overlooked project is “Fire Down”, helmed by Fireboy DML and Picazo.
Fireboy is charged with the song’s first two verses, as well as the song’s phenomenal hook. Through his verses, Fireboy is confident that the girl he has been waiting for already wants to be with him too, but that doesn’t stop him from pulling out all the stops to woo her.
Picazo’s wonderful rap verse provides a welcome contrast to Fireboy’s soft delivery, adding texture to the song. Rapping predominantly in Yoruba, Picazo spits with the confidence of Olamide, making it easy to see why the icon has taken the young rapper under his wings.
