Adekunle Gold Enlists Vanessa Mdee For The Remix Of ‘Before You Wake Up’

About three months ago, Adekunle Gold released his first solo track of the year, the fantastic “Before You Wake Up”. Now, with the song still deservedly making the rounds, he’s come through with an impressive remix, featuring Tanzanian star, Vanessa Mdee.

The remix smartly retains most of the elements that made the original song work so well, specifically Sess’ unimpeachable production work, the instantly catchy chorus and Adekunle Gold’s standout opening verse.

Vanessa Mdee, who’s known for having impeccable chemistry with Nigerian stars, appears on the song’s second verse, replacing Adekunle Gold until we get to the hook. From that moment on, it becomes a proper duet, with both stars harmonizing rather beautifully.

Already one of the best Nigerians songs of the year so far, we can’t say we really needed a remix for “Before You Wake Up”, but it’s hard to complain when the end result is this good. If for nothing else, it should keep fans satiated until the release of his next single, “Kelegbe Megbe”.
