President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has administered the oath of office to Senator George Akume as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Akume is taking over from Boss Mustapha who held the post during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dignitaries which included current and former Governors, Vice President Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and Mrs Regina Akume, the wife of the newly appointed SGF witnessed the occasion.

In an interview with journalists after the ceremony, Senator George Akume conveyed his happiness on his appointment and vowed to dedicate himself wholeheartedly to the success of the administration.
Meanwhile, a Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected a lawsuit filed by five residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) seeking to prevent the inauguration of Bola Tinubu as president. The court dismissed the suit against Tinubu over 25% FCT votes and fined the lawyer N20m.
In other news, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has commended President Bola Tinubu for exhibiting the qualities of a good leader through his decision on the removal of fuel subsidy.
