Back in March, Mavin Records introduced the world to their latest signee, Rema, who delivered a 4-track EP housing his breakout single, “Dumebi”. Regarded as one of the best Nigerians songs of 2019 so far, the infectious track also put its producer, Igbinoba Osaze (aka Ozedikus), on our radar.
Meeting Rema last year, Ozedikus frequently sent the up-and-comer beats, but it was the beat he intended for a different artist that ended up changing both their lives. While Rema’s “Dumebi” was not the original plan, Ozedikus wasn’t the least bit surprised by the track’s insane success.
Speaking to Konbini about his team’s initial reaction to the song, Ozedikus said:
“To be honest, I wasn’t surprised to see ‘Dumebi’ hold down the number 1 spot [on Apple Music’s Nigeria Chart] for straight 3 weeks. The team was jamming to it for almost a year before it was officially released.”

Originally from Edo State, Ozedikus found his passion for music as his church’s pianist and music director, but it wasn’t until 2014, when he happened into a studio, that his interest in producing was piqued. Then in 2015, he decided to pursue this passion professionally.
Now, as one of the in-house producers for the most prominent record label in Nigeria, Mavin Records, Ozedikus gets to work with the artists he idolised during his formative years. He is certainly in an ideal position to make his mark in the Nigerian music industry.
About working with Mavin Records, he continued:
“I remember when I used to jam to MoHits ‘Booty Call’ and the rest back in the days. Now, I get to actually work with them, and I never thought it would happen this soon.
I thank God for such a great opportunity and the knowledge that has been bestowed on me from being around so much GREATNESS.”

As much as Ozedikus has found his home at Mavin Records, he isn’t limiting himself to their roster. As well as teaming up with the musical legends he grew up listening to, the producer also has plans on collaborating with all the stars that have come up since then.
Before the year runs out, Ozedikus says he hopes to work with the likes of Runtown, Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage and Reekado Banks. Well, considering he just helped produce one of Dr Sid’s best song in years, we wouldn’t be surprised to see more stars banging on his studio door.
We are excited for what is to come from Ozedikus, and he confidently tells us to:
“Expect more classics, anthems and GREATNESS, as the best is yet to come.”
Bring it on!
