A total of eleven (11) suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo Boys” were on Wednesday, arrested by operatives of the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The fraudsters were nabbed in Jere and Maiduguri Local Government areas of Borno State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the EFCC Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren.
Uwujaren gave the names of the suspected “Yahoo Boys” as Olatunji Sherif, Bright Felix, Jude Linus Magaji, Jonah Jondi, Ojobaro Abdullahi, Jerry Zizighi, Micah Joseph, Mari Ayuba, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Adam Abiodun, and Victor Chinonso Okolieaboh.
According to Uwujaren, the suspected fraudsters were arrested in a sting operation following credible intelligence on their alleged criminal activities.
“Items recovered at their residence included one Mercedes Benz GLK 350, a Toyota Corolla saloon car, smartphones, MTN 4G Wi-Fi, and power banks,” the EFCC statement reads.
“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.”
In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that an internet fraudster, better known as “Yahoo Boy”, Victor Timothy has been slammed 12 months jail term after he pleaded guilty to committing N9 million internet fraud.
