A man has slumped and died after waiting for several hours to withdraw cash at a generation bank in Agbor, Delta State.
It was gathered that the incident happened inside the banking hall on Thursday afternoon as Nigerians decry the scarcity of new Naira notes in commercial banks across the country.
A Facebook user, Omole Mike, who shared the news, said the man died after futile attempts to withdraw cash from Frist Ban in Agbor.
He wrote, “Just now, at about 1:30 pm. Somebody collapsed and died in the First bank of Nigeria, Agbor Branch. The Date is on 02-02-2023. May his Soul Rest in Peace. It is well.”
But the police have dismissed the account, saying the customer was at the bank to collect his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card.
Delta Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe, said “He was not trying to withdraw cash, he came to collect his ATM card.”
Meanwhile, many Nigerians have taken to the streets of Lagos to protest the scarcity of new Naira notes in the country.
