It’s pilot season! For the uninitiated, this is when broadcast networks in Hollywood decide which of the dozens of prospective shows will become full-fledged series. And according to Deadline, one person who has been a darling of network executives is British-Nigerian actor, David Ajala.
The website reports that Ajala fielded multiple offers this pilot season, and has decided to go with Under the Bridge, a CBS TV drama, where he will play the lead. The TV show is from Mistresses executive producer, Rina Mimoun.
In Under the Bridge, Ajala will play Dan, a gorgeous, dry and somewhat broken man who “works hard for everything, except sex. That comes easily.” Back in the day, he hoped that Kate (not yet cast) would wind up with him, but she married his best friend, Michael (not yet cast), instead.
When Dan votes to separate Michael from their medical practice, Michael considers it a personal betrayal. Only Dan knows the real reason: In order to protect his best friend, he must be willing to sacrifice their relationship.
The talented Ajala is known for playing the iconic Manchester Black in CW’s Supergirl, and being one of the standout performers in Syfy’s new show, Nightflyers (available on Netflix). His film credits include Jupiter Ascending, Fast and Furious 6 and Kill Command.
A release date has not yet been set for Under the Bridge.
