Last year, Tems released her striking single, “Mr Rebel” — a magnificent song that deservedly made her one to watch. Since then, she’s kept our attention by working with some of our faves, including Ladipoe and Show Dem Camp.
Now, in a live session with Konbini, Tems has delivered a fantastic cover of one of 2018’s very best songs, Burna Boy‘s “On The Low“.
Tems is one of the most interesting Nigerian vocalists working today, and anyone who has seen her perform live will agree. For her rendition of “On The Low”, she does not disappoint, slowing down the pace and leaving room for her vocals to soar.
While “On The Low” is a definite party-starter, Tems turns it into a ballad, getting Burna’s romantic lyrics shine. The cover leaves us yearning for a recorded version, and even a possible collaboration between her and the gifted afro-fusion star.
Tems is one of the many gifted up-and-comers who will be performing at the sixth edition of Gidi Fest, which is set to hold on April 20. If you’re interested in hearing her powerhouse voice in person, you can get your ticket right here.
Until then, check out the cover below:
