While lovers everywhere were displaying their affection for one another, several musicians decided to use Valentine’s Day to show some love to their fans. For his grand gesture, DJ Prince smartly enlisted Olamide and Phyno to bring the heat on his latest track, “Piom Piom”.
Solidly produced by Adey — the beatsmith behind Ycee’s biggest track to date, “Juice” — “Piom Piom” borrows from live-band customs, with soaring instrumentals and spritely percussion, making it a perfect party-starter.
Olamide begins the track with the song’s hook, upon which he boasts of the wonderful feeling his lover gives him, before cheekily claiming her “piom piom” as his. The rapper then gets a little more explicit, describing the intimate gyrations he hopes to share with his baby.
Phyno, on the other hand, decides to go the romantic route on his verse, which ends up fitting more with the Valentine’s Day theme of the track. Olamide and Phyno are quite the pair to realise every afro-pop vision, so DJ Prince did a solid job holding down these features.
