Floodlights have been installed at Rojenny Stadium, Oba, near Onitsha, in Anambra State following a remarkable renovation work at the edifice, and the owner Chief Rommy Ezeowuka is eager to see it hosting bigger matches, Completesports.com reports.

The complex which got national attention in 1993 when it housed the Wilson Oruma-led Golden Eaglets who went on to lift that year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Japan has natural grass.

Chief Rommy Amandi Ezeonwuka, chief executive officer of the tourist/games village, informed Completesports.com that it will not be impossible for Rojenny Stadium to host senior national team matches given the top quality facilities put in place.

“You can see it yourself. The renovation work is complete. The grass is natural and lush green with our groundsmen always on ground,” Ezeonwuka told Completesports.com.

“You can also see the floodlights, two stands already mounted. The other two stands will soon arrive.

“With the state of the art facilities, it won’t be impossible for Super Eagles games to be played here.”

The test run of the Rojenny Stadium floodlights was done on Tuesday after they were mounted.

Rojenny Stadium is home ground of Nnewi United, a second tier Bet9ja Nigeria National League (NNL) side.

It had previously served similar purposes for (now defunct) Jasper United and Udoji United football clubs.
