Awoniyi Ends Goal Drought As Fulham Inflict 4th Consecutive EPL Defeat On Nottingham Forest

Taiwo Awoniyi ended his goal drought but it was not enough as struggling Nottingham Forest lost 3-2 at home to Fulham in the Premier League on Friday, Completesports.com reports.

Newly promoted Forest have now lost their last four Premier League games.

Prior to scoring against Fulham on Friday, Awoniyi had gone five straight games without getting on the score sheet.

Emmanuel Dennis, once again failed to find the back of the net in his fourth league appearance after coming on in the 88th minute.

Awoniyi put Forest 1-0 up on 11 minutes after heading in at the back post following a corner. It was his second goal in the English topflight this season.

But it was a rejuvenated Fulham that came out for the second half as they drew level on 54 minutes thanks to Tosin Adarabioyo who rose highest and headed in from former Arsenal and Chelsea star Willian’s corner.

Joao Palhinha then made it 2-1 in favour of Fulham on 57 minutes off a first time volley from a cross.

Then in the 60th minute Fulham went 3-1 ahead after Bobby De Cordova-Reid picked out Harrison Reed, whose low shot found the bottom corner.

With 13 minutes left Forest halved the deficit as Lewis O’Brien followed up from Brennan Johnson’s cross and finished powerfully.

Forest in search of the equalizer but Fulham held on to secure the win.

The defeat leaves Forest in 19th place on just four points while Fulham move up to sixth in 11 points on the log.

And at Villa Park, Joe Aribo featured for Southampton who lost 1-0 to Aston Villa.

Aribo was introduced before the start of the second half for Ibrahima Diallo.

Jacob Ramsey had Villa in front on 41 minutes pouncing quickly after Gavin Bazunu tipped Ollie Watkins effort onto the crossbar.

Southampton now occupy 12th spot on seven points after seven league fixtures.
