Manchester City continued their push for an unprecedented quadruple over the weekend, after fighting back to overcome Swansea City in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The Premier League champions, who have already landed the EFL Cup, are through to the last eight of the Champions League and are well placed to defend their domestic title – but they have plenty of work to do to claim all four trophies.
On paper, the FA Cup should be the easiest target and they were handed what looks to be a favourable semi-final draw.
City will take on Brighton, having avoided top-10 league rivals Wolves and Watford, and the Seagulls will still view their own survival fight as the priority.
However, the FA Cup is notorious for throwing up upsets and in a one-off game, all three remaining rivals could beat City on the day.
City have also been on the wrong end of one of the biggest final upsets in recent memory, having been stunned by Wigan Athletic in the 2013 showpiece.
Champions League the benchmark
Pep Guardiola has previously stressed he sees the Premier League as the big prize, but if this City team want to be viewed as one of the true greats they need a European title.
The Champions League could be their hardest task of all. At times the English champions have appeared naive in Europe – having failed to beat Lyon in the group stages – and they will face top quality opposition.
Tottenham await in the next round, while fellow Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool are potential future opponents – as are Juventus and Guardiola’s former club Barcelona.
Reds the danger in Premier League defence
Liverpool are the only threat left for the holders in the Premier League and the Reds reclaimed top spot over the weekend, as City continued their FA Cup journey.
City do have a game in hand so if they win all their games they will land the title but, with Spurs and Manchester United to come, that isn’t a given.
Guardiola’s men also face four teams still battling the drop in the run-in and all of those games could be dangerous, as the Etihad outfit take on sides fighting for their Premier League status.
The quadruple may be on for City, but a four-trophy haul is by no means guaranteed for Guardiola and his players and a lot could still happen between now and the end of the season.
